Dementia Matters Here(fordshire) works to support people affected by dementia, their carer/s and family members in Herefordshire. Facilitating the creation of dementia friendly communities, creating local opportunities/activities and raising awareness.
Clare Powney
Chief Officer
Clare is a Co-founder and Chief Officer of DMH and has 10 plus years experience working with people with dementia, having worked with the Alzheimer’s Society as a Services Manager. She is also a trustee of Leominster Meeting Centre.
Charlotte Banks
Services Manager
Charlotte is the DMH Services Manager and takes care of all of our services across Herefordshire.
Dr Shirley Evans
Chair
Shirley has worked in the field of inclusion and education, with a specialism in technology and more recently dementia care, for over 20 years on a local, regional, national and international basis and as a practitioner, manager and policy shaper. She is a Senior Research Fellow at the Association for Dementia Studies where she is the Programme Manager for the UK Meeting Centre Support Programme project. Shirley is a trustee of Leominster Meeting Centre for people affected by dementia where she is the treasurer and is responsible for projects and funding. She is also Chair of Herefordshire Dementia Action Alliance.
Andrew Wood
Finance trustee
Andrew is a chartered accountant and experienced finance director over more than 20 years, and has also served in the charitable sector, as a trustee, over the last 30 years. He has worked, at board-level, in the social care sector, since 2014, and in the wider healthcare sector since 2011, and co-owns a homecare business, serving Herefordshire, which has a particular focus on dementia care provision. He is also a trustee of a Bristol-based charity, Alive!, which has provided innovative, meaningful activity sessions in care homes for more than 10 years, again with a focus on dementia care provision.
